Atos SAE has been selected to be a member of the Steering Board of NEM (Networked and Electronic Media) which addresses the convergence of media, communications, consumer electronics, and IT. Furthermore, Atos is a founding member of the European Technology Platform NESSI (Networked European Software and Services Initiative). Atos is also participating in other technology platforms like eMOV, eSEC, PROMETEO and INÉS. The Media Unit, within the Atos Research & Innovation (ARI) department, brings its expertise in the coordination, exploitation and integration activities of research projects along with a large list of successful deployment of R&D results. The group technical expertise has been developed in R&D projects such as OLYMPIC, iSCORE, LIVE, My eDirector 2012 among many others. The R&D team has achieved a relevant competence in the European Union due to the diverse international projects in which the former companies, Sema Group and SchlumbergerSema, have been involved since 1989.

Role in the Project: ATOS is the coordinator of the SMART project. ATOS will lead WP1 and WP7 of the project, thus taking a lead in administrative project management, financial management, quality control, research on SMART business models and dissemination/exploitation activities. In terms of core technical tasks ATOS (as an IT integrator) will engage with the integration of the SMART live news use case in collaboration with PRISA in WP6 of the project. ATOS will also be for providing requirements and evaluating the SMART search platform from a service provider’s and IT integrator’s perspectives. ATOS will also participate in the implementation of reusable mashups (in WP5) as part of the SMART core search framework. ATOS will support SDR in the on-field installation and deployment of sensors, as well as on the analysis of requirements from an infrastructure and service provider perspective.

Paul Moore has double Canadian-Spanish nationality. He is a graduate in Computer Business Systems at Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada and also holds a degree in Economics from University of Toronto and Linguistics from University Complutense in Madrid. He has 20 years experience in IT systems, including 10 years as Technical Director or Coordinator of different European projects. His different work areas have included many years in workflow systems, mobility and multimedia. He is Head of Media in Atos Research & Innovation and is the representative for Atos in the Steering Committee of NEM (European Technology Platform for Networked Electronic Media).

David Salama is a project leader of ARI. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Suffolk University, and a MBA from Nichols College, USA. He worked in the Miami office of Socimer International Corporation. In Spain, he worked in Grupo Gesor, a consulting firm where he gained experience in the development of information systems of customised software solutions and exploitation of electronic commerce ventures. He has lead several EU research projects in FP5, FP6 and FP7.

Irene Schmidt studied Economics and Business Administration at the University of Applied Sciences in Koblenz (Germany) specializing in Marketing and Foreign Trade. She spent one foreign semester at the Universidad de Zaragoza in Spain. She worked for Leipziger Messe GmbH (Germany) an international Exhibition and Events Organization, and for Microsoft Corporation (Spain) in Security Product Management. She joined (in 2007) the Atos working group as Project Manager for international European projects such as LIVE, My eDirector 2012 and others.

Jose Miguel Garrido holds a Master Degree as Industrial Engineer from the University of Valladolid (UVA) and a MBA from Camara de Comercio Valladolid. He started as a researcher for CARTIF (UVA research institute) about Machine Vision and Robotics. He worked as a developer in SPORTEC (lBM label) for Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and Defence projects for ESPELSA. Then, he worked for Telefonica R&D institute, TID, for 9 years, in projects related to new generation networks, multimedia, DRM and some EC FP6 projects. He joined Atos R&D in the 2008, working in EC research projects about multimedia, software integration and user interfaces, as GAMA, ALIS, or PuppyIR.

Francesc Pelegrin holds a High degree in Computer Engineering in 2008, at the University Autonomous of Barcelona (UAB) in Barcelona and Computer Systems Engineering Technician at University of Lleida in Lleida. He is working in ATOS Spain assigned to the Research & Innovation division since 2008, where he has been contributing to several projects and proposals in the Smart Objects Lab, e.g. ICT4E2B, eDiana, FI-WARE, OUTSMART, iCORE, and ENCOURAGE. His main area of interest and expertice are Smart Objects, M2M and IoT.

The Research leading to these results has received funding from the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013)
